One night Lotta wanted to show me the Sufi dance close to the Al-Azhar university. Sufism is a the third largest (after Sunni and Shia) and most mysterious branch of Islam where the followers believe that they can obtain a personal experience of God through meditation and self-disciplin. Sufis follow the tariqa (lit. the way) which is a set of mental and physical exercises designed to help them in this task.
This guy was spinning for like 30 minutes and putting on and taking off these multi-colored skirts all the time. I don't know how he did not to faint.
Lotta was starved after the hard work of watching all that dancing, so we went to get stuffed in a restaurant nearby. This is the local specialty Koshaari, basically a mix of everything vegetable you can think of; peas, beans, lentils, rice, noodles, pasta, roots, beats, etc etc... Yummylicious though!!!
