Sunbathing in Dahab

My hotel where I was staying. Pool, juice bar, AC, 20 meters to the sea.... What more can you ask for?

The center of Dahab with the infamous Tota dance bar, one of the bombs exploded right behind here in a shop.

The paved walking path went along the entire coast line, with hotels, restaurants and hotels on one side and the beautiful red sea and amazing snorkling opportunities on the other...

Random mood shot by the green Brica...

Another one of a curious dog...

It is easy to take nice pictures in Dahab...

Neither camels nor horses were unfortunately allowed on the beach. I suppose elephants were OK.

What a dogs life... Even dogs were sunbathing there!

Why not a haircut on the beach??

Pat and Bobby were some really splendid chaps from London I met on the trip to Mt Sinai and we met up for beers and food in the evening. Bobby works as a carpenter and Pat as a professional photographer. (www.patclinephotography.co.uk)

The next day we rented a fishing boat (illegally of course) and set out for some adventure.

Pat was excited.

Bobby was even more excited!!

But most excited of all was the globestrutter!!!

The hi-tech gear.

The bait consisted in deep frozen calamari mixed with some cigarette ashes. A winning combination.

And off we go! The secret bait recipe turned out to be a huge success!

Even the normally so grumpy Bobby looked happy when he caught. That's the way to go, ya' old fart! ;-)

The catch, we caught like 2-3 each, gotta love the red ones whatever they were.

When we came back we asked a chef to cook them for us for dinner and went snorkling in the meantime. I had a crappy (worse than the Brica) underwater camera that I snapped some shots with but they are not even close to what it was like down there, the reefs are just amazing. Next time I will get a diving certificate..

The only other shot that was decent out of the 24 ones I took. DON'T develop your film in Egypt!!!

Pat was already hungry so we decided to go eat right away...

The chef had done an amazing job with the food and it was delicious!!

Even the so hard-to-please Pat seemed moderately content... ;-)

"Flash and Blur" with the Brica. The technique behind this completely conscience-altering effect is to take a picture with the flash on and bright lights in the background and then shake the camera like hell. Then the foreground will become sharp and the lights in the background will appear as curves.

Another mindboggling "flash and blur" photo!

My masterpiece!

After breakfast the next day I headed on the Petra but more about that in the next post... This one is already way too long I am afraid! :-P
