French in Lyon

In August I went to Lyon to study a bit of French. I've never learnt it before but I still scored high enough on the intro test to start at the second level, I found that pretty funny. I guess my Italian with French accent must have fooled someone. :-) Lyon was a really nice place actually, though from what I heard from people I was pretty lucky with the weather. It's definitely something special with a city located where two major rivers meet, can't be many places like that in the world. Unfortunately a month was a little short for learning the language fluently perhaps, oh well, I guess I am just going to have to go back there at some point...

This type of wall painting is typical for Lyon. Very nice. Very nice.

The place where I lived was Montplaisir Lumiere, right next to where the Lumiere brothers invented the cinematograph. There was a big outdoor screen in the square too, where they aired such groundbreaking work as "Thelma and Louise" and "Return of the Killer Shrimps".

My french class at the Alliance Francais. They were all much brighter than me. :-(

The fancy Basilique de Fourviere. You can see it from all over town as it sits up there on the mountain, but I only made it up to take a closer look on my last day in Lyon.
