Copacabana (again) & Isla del Sol
I eventually managed to find my travelmate Mini in Cuzco after some having played some serious email tag (how did people survive without email and cell phones???), we had a last supper there before going to Copacabana in Bolivia the next day.
A friend I met during the 17 km walk from Yampupata along Lake Titicaca (second time this year I do it, on two different trips, what are the odds?). We chatted for a while and I realized that though being from different parts of the world, we actually had a lot in common.
Taking a rest on a little rock.
A guy we met (and his llama) who was very proud of this boat he had built and liked to take tourists in (for a small charge of course)...
Mini cruising Lake Titicaca with the little llama man.
A little later, we ran into this guy who was struggling to keep control of both his bike and the cow. After having dropped the bike several times and hurled uncountable fist size rocks at the cow to make it go in the right direction, I decided to save the poor critten and generously offered him to take his bike down the hill. However, I ended up having to take care of it all the way back to Copacabana.. :-) That's what you get for being nice.
At least the downslopes got a bit easier with our newfound vehicle...
The walk was just as nice as last time... (Though not as exciting as walking blindly in the pitch black dark with you of course, Maya)
The next day we took a boat to go to Isla del Sol for a night. This is a view of the island and its younger sibling, Isla de la Luna. We didn't go there, however.
Mini chewing down our horribly overpriced 10 boliviano sandwiches (about 1 USD).
Part of the 6 hour walk we did around the whole of the island, it was quite nice but the sun was incredibly strong and I got really pretty red stripes on the sandal-covered feet.
The ruins on the northern tip were less impressive than the walk itself.
Children playing with tiny kites in the sunset.
Ahhhh the beer had never tasted better than when we got back home... (The black sun is an interesting side effect of too much light I have discovered in my new state-of-the-art Brica Digiart camera.)
